Memorial of Vaughn Aldrich Lujan
Vaughn Aldrich Lujan was born March 25, 2006 and died April 19, 2008 after a brief illness. In Vaughn’s short life he demonstrated a love for soccer. His parents could often find him dribbling a ball through the house and scoring “goals”. His determination was evident, even at such a young age.
In lieu of flowers Vaughn’s parents, Arron and Heather Lujan, asked friends and family to make contributions to Southwest Youth Services. Those funds will be used to provide other Native American children with the opportunity to benefit from the game of soccer.
Arron Lujan (Kiowa/Taos) is a member of the Indigenous Soccer Cup Council and the co-chair of the Native American Soccer Coaches Committee. Arron has been coaching soccer on the collegiate level for the past five seasons. Arron began his coaching career as an assistant men’s coach first at Virginia Wesleyan College, followed by Princeton University. He was recently named the head men’s soccer coach at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to coaching Arron played soccer on the professional level for six years. He received a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College. During his time at Colorado College, Arron was a first team All-American and finished his career as the all-time leading goal scorer.
