Indigenous Soccer Cup History:

The Indigenous Soccer Cup (ISC) is a National Native Youth Leadership Conference, which is a culmination of SYS programming and efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle. Participants from local, national and international communities join us for a week of soccer, culture,  youth leadership training, life skills and college prep workshops.

The ISC got its start after a wonderful experience at the North American Indigenous Games in 2006. SYS was responsible for organizing the soccer tournament and coaching the U-14 boys and girls teams. The boys returned with the bronze medal and the girls with the silver medal. After witnessing the natural abilities of our young athletes at NAIG, they inspired our organization to creat the ISC in 2007. After an amazing turn out of teams from New Mexico and Canada at the University of New Mexico, our mission and love for the game of soccer became a communal effort. Each summer about 400 participants, volunteers and spectators gather to make this event special.
